OUR HISTORY
How it all began
Peak Engineers was founded in 2014 by Chris Simm, the managing director, and is based in the heart of the Peak District National Park. The company has gone from strength to strength and Gary Smith joined the team in 2018 after a long career at Ove Arup. We moved to our current offices in 2020 and continue to expand, serving clients locally, in the region and nationally.

What We Do
Peak Engineers offer a complete structural engineering design service producing calculations, drawings, advice and expertise for the domestic, commercial and stadia sectors. Our expertise encompasses all types of structural materials and the design of both new build and refurbished structures.
Peak Engineers can produce structural inspection reports for mortgage or planning application purposes highlighted structural defects and offering recommendations for repair or further investigation. We have worked on listed buildings, heritage assets, domestic and commercial buildings.
We have experience in the design and procurement of stadia projects in the UK and abroad. We can provide scheming advice, cost saving ideas, BIM reviews, precast component design and detailing, and other types of specialisation which can benefit the project at pre tender stages to save capital, improve buildability and minimise risk.

Chris has worked for various structural consulting engineers, in Northampton, Leeds, and Boston in the US. He has a wide range of structural understanding and experience varying from domestic projects, commercial projects, specialist CAT 3 checks, and his personable skills have generated a large and varied Client base. Chris is a keen golfer and is a member of Bakewell Golf Course. Chris’s most accomplished achievement is designing and building his own home in the Peak District, which was completed whilst maintaining his full time role at Peak Engineers.

Gary previously worked for Ove Arup in their Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester and London Offices as a structural engineering consultant specialising in stadium and arena design. Gary’s strengths are his attention to detail and drawing out the problems to minimise risk for Clients. He spends his spare time managing his children’s football teams, cycling and his never ending DIY projects.
For anybody looking for a structural engineer, look no further these are your guys. Called up and within 4 hours they were round to survey for my extension! Thanks guys
